EPC, test and commission a solar farm during COVID

The Glenrowan West solar farm is a single axis tracking project, located in the small regional town of Glenrowan in Victoria, 240km north-east of Melbourne. The site is designed to have an installed capacity of approx. 149-megawatt peak (MWp) DC over 323 hectares of land. Construction of the Solar Farm began in February 2020 and achieved its first export of clean energy in December 2020, managed without any delays during the COVID-19 restrictions.

Glenrowan West solar farm comprises of over 373,000 solar panels generating enough electricity to power the equivalent of approximately 41,000 local homes and prevent 110,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Our scope of work included to engineer, procure, construct, test and commission a 66/33kV substation for the solar farm generation, in preparation for performance testing. We worked alongside Signal Energy Australia to deliver the substation and connect it into the AusNet network with the point of connection at Glenrowan Terminal substation.

Although in a different regional council area, the Glenrowan West solar farm is effectively next door to the Winton solar farm (another of our solar substation projects built around the same time).
